Jay & Chris’ relaxed wedding in Echunga was designed to be casual and relaxed incorporating not only a rustic farm venue but food trucks, lawn games and some awesome ’80’s dance tunes. Welcome Ladies and Gents to Wedstival!

The Engagement

We had been friends for quite some time after both playing sport at our local football/netball club. Chris attended Jay’s High School formal but it wasn’t till quite some time later that we started a relationship. With our own home and adorable dog together, a day spent celebrating our relationship seemed almost unnecessary, so Jay was obviously ecstatic but also surprised when Chris proposed.

Chris proposed by tying the tiffany box around our dog Ryder’s neck and then calling her into our bedroom where Jay was enjoying breakfast in bed for her birthday. Jay initially thought it might just be a pair of earrings until Chris got down on one knee and proposed!

We wanted something that reflected us, our families and our close friends. For that reason we chose a festival themed wedding or “Wedstival”.  This theme, with the backdrop of the farm helped provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere which every guest could enjoy.

We held the ceremony at the same location as the reception under two large gum trees. We wanted the reception to be very casual and relaxed, so we had beers and champagne for our guests upon arrival. The ceremony was kept short and our celebrant Sarah managed to keep everyone entertained with her vibrant personality.

The reception was held in a large farm shed, with a large grassed area out the front dotted with wine barrels, umbrellas, trestles and hay bales. We utilised festoon lighting outside and fairy lights throughout the shed. To keep our guests entertained we had several games on hand including quoits, giant Jenga and giant Connect Four out on the grass and Lucas Keeley played acoustic music, which created an amazing atmosphere.

Keeping in line with our “Wedstival” theme we had Papas Gourmet Hotdogs provide a wonderful late lunch from their food truck and Burger Theory catered for dinner with their delicious burgers and fries.

As night fell our guests all moved into the shed, where we danced into the early hours of the morning to some 80’s classics and some of our favourite songs.
