Husband and Wife team Kathy and Ross began Little Vintage Bar and Van through a shared vision of creating a truly unique mobile bar service. Their vintage caravan aka Miss Fisher has grown to become loved throughout South Australia and Far North Queensland.
How did Little Vintage Bar and Van begin?
Our business began after we restored a 1966 vintage caravan that belonged to my parents. It was such a labour of love that I couldn’t escape my thoughts of wanting to build a business around vintage caravans. Knowing that I would need the support of my husband Ross, I broached the subject of finding a van and creating a business that would appeal to the events market. I had a background in direct promotions with a large expo company that I enjoyed and I was able to transfer my skills to promoting Little Vintage Bar and Van to the same audience.
I began searching for another van and when I saw a very faded, sad and tired little van advertised on Gumtree, I knew I had to buy her as I had a vision! It was a challenge convincing Ross that we could restore and build a business around a van that was full of wood rot and decay but we did and Miss Fisher was born. It’s been extremely hard work but we wouldn’t change a thing.
What do you love most about your job?
When we receive an enquiry for our mobile bar, we know that unless people have seen us at an event, they have little knowledge of the unique services we offer.
When guests arrive at the venue, we watch their reactions when they first see Miss Fisher, with her five light chandelier popping out the hatch and the crystal decanter lights glowing. They just stop in their tracks pull out their cameras and squeal with excitement!! Our job brings many smiles, as much to us as it does to wedding guests as everyone is happy. We love it.
What do you love most about weddings?
We love the speeches, the tears and the unexpected surprises!! Selfishly we love everything about what each wedding moment brings…from the first look, the first kiss to the first dance…It is such a privilege and an honour to be present at these special moments.
We love to help Brides with all aspects of their planning, not just the bar service. Having four married children of our own, we understand that sometimes it can be very overwhelming trying to keep a budget within limits. Building a relationship with couples is a special part of what we do and we encourage each couple to make their day as personal and memorable as possible.
We gain great pleasure in offering the best service we can to our clients and seeing them enjoy what we have created…
What does Miss Fisher bring to a wedding?
Couples who book Miss Fisher are generally looking to create a unique experience for their guests. She’s such a talking point and she most certainly makes a wedding extremely memorable. Aside from her good looks, she’s also extremely practical by providing a BYO dry bar service that is both efficient and cost effective.
