This couple had the Eyre Peninsula in their blood so it was no surprise to anyone when they made this beautiful SA region the centre of their plans for a summer wedding! For the 20 years before Jess and Matt met, they both had a love of the outdoors, were drawn to adventure, were people magnets and they both oozed a love of life. Despite the fact that Jess grew up 1500 kilometres from the nearest ocean and Matt effectively grew up ‘in’ the ocean’ when they met, they were already very much in sync when they started their relationship nearly 10 years ago at university college. The sparks were soon visible between them and many of you here today have witnessed their love and respect for each other grow and deepen over the last nine and half years. They are soul mates – they are just meant to be life partners.
For years Jess and Matt have tried to consume less and make more environmentally conscious decisions, as well as support small and support local businesses. So, to live their values and have a wedding that truly reflected them as a couple, these values set the foundation for their wedding.
The wedding party looked ace, and proves that the best of wedding outfits can be found just about anywhere! The guys jackets were found in vintage stores / grandfathers wardrobes across Adelaide (and tailored by Matt’s wonderfully talented Nona), and the gals pulled together a great selection of borrowed dresses that looked amazing! After a fruitless search for a to buy a dress second hand, Jess went with a beautiful, sustainable bridal two piece set which is something that she plans to wear again & again.
The eco-friendly vibe extended to their guests, who were asked to dress ‘seaside snazzy’ but with a twist! Jess says “We asked guests to wear something that they already own, or that they’d borrowed or found second hand. If guests had to buy something new, we asked them to check out the “Good on You” app for ethical brands ratings to guide their choices. Everyone looked amazing!”
Florals were sourced from the family farm, guests enjoyed local sustainably sourced seafood and local SA bevvys, and the couple pulled off the most divine styling without buying a single item new!
The couple opted for a cheeky first look and photos with their wedding party before heading to the beachside ceremony to make it official. Despite the super hot day, these two looked cool as can be!
We love to see a wedding that is such a true reflection of a couple’s day to day living, and Jess and Matt have nailed this! Their wedding day was a celebration of their love and commitment to each other, and the world they want to live in.
